About Us

With a legacy of success in a high school basketball program, and a legacy of success as a teacher and coach, it was a natural fit to memorialize long time Watertown teacher and coach, Steve Jacobson, with a Watertown Basketball Alumni tournament. The tournament is a fundraiser, donating 100% of the proceeds to a scholarship fund in his name.

Currently, there are two scholarships available for a deserving male and female applicant. Applicants are asked to fill out a standard scholarship form, but also must meet some simple criteria set forth by the JamFest committee. First, they must be good students showing a commitment to the classroom. Second, they must have graduated from the Watertown Basketball program. Third, they must answer one essay question, "How will you make your mark on the world?" We feel each of these criteria are what Coach J would have asked of in a scholarship applicant and we are very proud of the scholarship winners that are mentioned on the home page of the website.

The JamFest committee is made up of Jeff Oiler, Brent Yaeggi and Bob Mudler. Kent Jacobson is the family representative on the committee and Coach J's brother. It goes without saying that the tournament could not function without the help of numerous volunteers, the Watertown Athletic Booster Club, our gracious corporate sponsors, the current members of the Watertown Basketball Program and of course our men and women alumnus.
